The 97th Santa Fe Indian Market transforms the City of Santa Fe, with nearly 1,000 of the continent’s finest Native American artists showing their work in booths filling the Santa Fe Plaza and surrounding streets. The Indian Market is the largest and most prestigious Native American fine art show in the world.

Navajo sisters and longtime Indian Market artists Barbara Teller Ornelas and Lynda Teller Pete will sign advanced copies of their book, not due to publish until September, “Spider Woman’s Children: Navajo Weaving Today.”
Other weavers profiled in the book include Florence Riggs, Florence Manygoats, Rena Begay, Gilbert Begay, Jason Harvey, Martha Schultz, and Lillie Taylor.

All royalties from the sale of this book will be directed to the Chamiza Foundation to benefit their Pueblo educational programs. Brian Vallo, author of the forward, will also be present to sign.

One of the most glamorous and popular events of the Santa Fe Indian Market is the Live Auction Gala and Reception. Hosted by La Fonda, this fundraiser for the Southwestern Association of Indian Arts (SWAIA), the organization that produces the Indian Market, begins with a silent auction and cocktail reception at the hotel’s La Terraza. The evening culminates with the exciting Live Auction Gala and dinner in the Lumpkins Ballroom.

In partnership with the National Museum of the American Indian, the 18th annual Native Cinema Showcase Family Night features the 2017 Disney hit “Coco.” Families are encouraged to bring chairs/blankets and arrive in time to secure a spot on the lawn. Food available for purchase from a variety of local food trucks. The movie will begin at sunset.
